CARTUNE XPREZ 2010 with CoralCola, PPalmm and DJ Volvox. April 18, 8pm.

Part live video theater, part psychedelic insurrection, part cartoon road show, we harness the energies of video artists who remix commercial imagery to the extent of anarchy and animate their way out of Sunday Morning Cartoons. Previous shows have included Paper Rad, Bruce Bickford, Takeshi Murata, and Shana Moulton, who have since been featured in the Whitney Biennial, the MOMA in New York, the Sundance Film Festival, and many others. Our touring programs have become a touchstone of the genre, with this upcoming program offering a rare opportunity to see innovative animated videos from around the world. Adding to the spectacle, Peter Burr and Christopher Doulgeris’ Hooliganship will combine videos, music, and installation to create an electroluminescent stage show.

DiscordiaFilms: Benefit Film Screening for Chile

Saturday April 17th, 8pm

discordiafilms will be hosting a benefit show to help fund relief efforts in Chile in the aftermath of the February 27th earthquake. Donations will help artists we have collaborated with in the past, specifically Chimba Lab in Santiago, whose space was badly damaged. Since VideoNorte has never been shown in the northern hemisphere, we have decided to show the complete program that night. Please join us in solidarity with people in Chile and help us get the word out, and come out to see this fantastic line up of experimental shorts that is now touring the south (Argentina and Chile).

GOODIEPAL returns for his first Boston-area show since his amazing performance at the 2006 Brainwaves festival! Goodiepal is Parl Kristian Bjorn Vester, a Danish/Faroese musician and composer. The eccentric Goodiepal performs and lectures about his work and ideas at universities and galleries around the world — he is in town to lecture at Harvard. Until recently, he was employed as a teacher at DIEM (Danish Institute for Electro-acoustic Music) at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark. Goodiepal declared intellectual war against the stupidity in modern computer music and media art, which is to say against The Royal Academy of Music, when he quit the job in 2008. He currently lives in London.
